How To Increase Computer Speed

Do you want to speed up your slow computer? Well if you want to know how to speed up a slow computer, here are a couple of things you may want to do.

Speed Up Your Computer By Checking Your Windows Hardware
By being sure that you have sufficient windows hardware can make a huge difference in your PC's performance. For Windows to work at its best, it must be supported by the right processor, operating memory and hard drive.

Let's look at the two most common Windows Operating Systems.

Windows XP
If you run Windows XP on your computer, the most recommended configuration is as follows:
o Pentium IV, Celeron M processor or equivalent - it will run on a slower Pentium, but you'll be happier with the IV's performance
o 1 to 2 GB of RAM (operating memory) - it will run on less, but not without some frustration.
o 160 GB hard drive or larger - it will run with an 80 GB, but if you take a lot of digital images or have many programs, you'll benefit from the extra space of a bigger drive.

Windows Vista
If you are running Windows Vista on your PC, the most recommended configuration is as follows:

o Dual-Core processor - Pentium will not get it done for Vista and forget using computers saying they are "Vista Capable" - they are not.
o 3 to 4 GB of RAM (operating memory) - it will run on less, but not without a lot of frustration.
o 320 GB or larger hard drive - it will run on less, but if you take a lot of digital images or have many programs, you'll benefit from the extra space of a bigger drive.

Does your computer have the correct hardware to support Windows, but is still running slow? Then there may be a more serious problem hindering your system's performance. 85% of most slow CPUs are associated with a damaged windows registry. To speed up your computer, you will need to fix your windows registry.

Restore Your Computer's Performance By Using Registry Cleaners
The windows registry acts as the brain behind your computer and is a crucial component that contributes to your systems performance. The purpose of a registry cleaner(RC) is to help repair and fix all the errors that have accumulated throughout the years of use and restore your PC back to its original "out of box" state.
